Looking busy

September 13, 2018 by Don Kuhl

Aging Friday

For most of my life I had a notion I needed to look busy. I know that sounds silly, but whether I was on the job or just playing my way through the weekend, there was this inner voice telling me to act as if I was doing a whole bunch of stuff.

When I aged into my sixties, this weird affliction started to fade. It was a freeing feeling to be okay with having people think I was relaxing at times, taking a little break.

Now, in my 70s, I work hard at giving the appearance I’m doing absolutely nothing. This is getting easier and easier to do.
