Old-fashioned

January 23, 2022 by Don Kuhl

I don’t care what they say – how my kids and younger friends snort and giggle at me. I’m going to keep using cash to pay for almost everything. And when I receive big bills for insurance, medical care and such, I’ll mail my personal check and keep track of it in my little check register.

It drives my family and friends crazy that I don’t take my cellphone every place I go. But why should I “pick up” every minute of the day? Often, I don’t look at my text messages until evening.

I’m a real magazine and paper guy. I like to hold them with both hands and flip through the pages. I love to look at real photographs on glossy paper (rather than have my friends search forever for a photo on their fancy phones).

The truth is, I don’t want to let go of all the things that defined my own “good old days.”

Please, let me put another nickel (or quarter?) in the jukebox.
