I’ll dry.

January 18, 2022 by Don Kuhl

Little decisions can have monster impacts over time. I have one example.

Twenty-five years ago, Sherry and I purchased our home. We knew this was “it” for the rest of our lives. It wasn’t fancy, but it came with lots of rugged land that just needed a bunch of time and love.

Inside, it had a brand new dishwashing machine that fit beautifully into the kitchen cabinetry. We looked at each other, smiled and agreed it had to go.

Twenty-five years later, one of us washes the dishes while the other dries. It’s a special connection time: we talk, we’re silent, we laugh, we yell a bit, we decide, we hug and sometimes we shed a tear or two.

Many parts of our lives have been decided over sudsy dish water. We made it through a few tough times. A corporation grew strong as we passed plates and cups to each other.

One insignificant note: Sherry has never broken one piece of dishware.

As for Don… who’s counting?
