One tip I have for an aging population is to return to something that gave you pleasure years before.
It happened to me thanks to the arrival of two little kitties, Kevin and Karen. Within a week, they knew every cranny of our two-story house. Kevin’s the outlaw. I cannot open the refrigerator door without Kevin jumping in and crawling to the back of the vegetable section. (Just try to get a kitty out from the back of a refrigerator.) Kevin also enjoys taking showers with me and helps me clean my toes. Meanwhile, Karen is a little angel, hanging out with Sherry.
Over 20 years ago, I was blessed with Roy M. Quick, a big, beautiful cat who followed me around to help me with my chores. When I shaved, Roy M. Quick would test the consistency of my shaving cream and make sure the water temperature was just right. Outside, he helped me pull weeds, never recognizing the difference between a weed and a flower. I loved that darn cat and cried when we had to put him down at age 21.
My affection toward cats is just one example. I’m back playing gin rummy on a daily basis, trying out new breakfast recipes, throwing a frisbee and bouncing a rubber ball as I go for my walk.
What fun can you return to?

Koi, heron and shepherds
