Brevity

January 13, 2022 by Don Kuhl

Definition of brevity: Concise and exact words in writing and speech

Boy, I think I flunked again.

When I decided to write this Aging blog three times a week, I promised brevity. Tell a story. Offer a hidden message. Attempt to bring a smile or a near tear. And then get out of there.

I’ve been doing a word count recently, and it’s not pretty.

My super editor and friend, Jenni, helps me out. She removes some of my creative words, even complete imaginative sentences. At first I argue and plead my case. Jenni’s tough. She wins. Even then, my blogs do not win any brevity awards.

It’s a challenging job. I love attempting to do it. I particularly enjoy receiving many thoughtful responses each week.

But now, I plan to be briefer. Get to my point sooner. Not waste any of your precious time.

That’s about it for today.
