Without thinking much about it, I continue to find hidden treasures as I age. Other times, I don’t recognize one that is right on my path.
Having weekly lunches with two great friends is one of my treasures. We share things in common. Each of us retired from owning businesses. All three of us stay curious. We can’t help it. We all are happily married to women we love and respect. We stay active in our community. The list could go on.
At the same time, we have unique differences. Larry and Jon are smarter than me. But they don’t flaunt it. I’m more creative than they are, and I try to show off a bit. Larry works out daily and has big biceps to prove it. Jon and I just say we do. Larry stays more abreast of what’s happening around the world. Jon is a local connector, bringing people together to do good things in Carson City. I’m guilty of starting new corporations that tend to flounder and lose lots of money. Both Larry and Jon like to travel around the world. I travel around Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada.
I am discovering other hidden treasures, such as the beauty of paintings by local artists and the joy of creating my own recipes for soups and salads.
My point is: we all should stop and recognize the marvelous things that enter our world as we age. What are some of yours?
