Here’s a fun and informative thing to do if you have an hour. Or a lifetime.
Take out a big sheet of paper and some colored pencils or crayons.
Draw the outside of a house as if it represents your life. Color your house with symbols, words and phrases that are meaningful to you. Think of people walking by and looking at your house and remarking, “Oh, now I know who lives there.”
Get another sheet of paper and go inside. Draw the rooms in your house. Each room makes up one of the most important parts of your life – like your partner, your job, your fears, your childhood and so on. Most houses will have six or seven important rooms. Feel free to use your crayons to color pictures or words that represent each room to you.
Finally, draw the room that is most important to you – the one that’s emanating the most heat. Use this page to draw the images, words or phrases that make it important to you. Go a little crazy. Get creative. Draw in windows, and think of them as opportunities to see the world from your special room (you can use additional pages to draw other important rooms in your house).
I created my house using this approach, and it changed my life for the better.
Try it. You’ll find out something new about yourself.
P.S. If you wish to receive a guidebook for this exercise, just send me your name and address. I’ll send you a free one.
