Master Mentor

July 6, 2021 by Don Kuhl

I talked to a mentor of mine last night. I told him I was in a bit of a funk. Nothing serious or complex, just this little gray cloud hanging over me.

The first thing Master Mentor asks is, “Are you attempting to help someone through a little issue he or she might be dealing with?”

Me: “How did you know? In fact, I’m providing advice and support to two Carson City acquaintances of mine. They need my help.”

Master Mentor: “You may wish to spend more time figuring out what’s on your plate. I’ve observed you hide out by diving into other people’s problems when you are troubled with an issue of your own.”

Me: “Are you saying I shouldn’t reach out to friends who are struggling?”

Master Mentor: “Start with who counts the most in your world. Do you have a mirror handy?”
