I have buddies from grade school, high school and beyond who help make my older years enjoyable and meaningful. Then, without my permission, they drop dead.
It’s not fair to me. I count on them. A few of them really liked me… I think. So from now on, I am demanding advance notice. Here is my official letter to go out to me at least 10 days before their departure.

You have been a great friend over the years. I want you to know I’m taking all of our little secrets with me, so you have nothing to fret about.
I’ll put a good word in for you when I arrive above. I think you will need it.
