I’m an optimist

March 24, 2020 by Don Kuhl

Thank goodness I’m an optimist. It helps me see kindness and opportunity where others see fear, panic and chaos.

Our whole world is facing the coronavirus challenge. For me, it’s best to be updated briefly on the international crisis once a day. Then, I shut off the television and look locally. How is the virus affecting my family, my neighborhood, my community? Where can I plug in and play?

Last Friday, I worked with fabulous private businesses in Carson City. In a matter of hours, we gave out bags of groceries, coupons for free food at a drive-in restaurant and over 220 $100 dollar bills.

It didn’t make a dent in the national scene.

However, over 220 families in Carson City are eating well this week.

Thank goodness I’m an optimist. Our country will come out of this crisis stronger than ever.

How am I so certain? We may be politically divided as a country. But we love our neighbors.
