Edgar

August 30, 2022 by Don Kuhl

I’m catching some marvelous shows on my sidewalk. The last one featured Edgar, the tiniest ant of them all. Edgar found a twig and his life’s passion was to get this humongous piece of wood from one side of the sidewalk to the other.

I was in the stands (my folding chair) rooting for Edgar as he crossed the midway point to his goal. But alas, when Edgar had only 18 inches to go, he collapsed in exhaustion. I was ready to leave my stadium seat, full of disappointment, when two mighty ants rushed onto the field. One grabbed the twig and tugged it into the end zone. The other aided tiny Edgar, pulling him from the red-hot cement to the cool, sweet grass of victory.

I’m starting an ant-ology full of great stories. I’m titling it: Edgar, the Tiniest Ant of Them All.
